The United States is a diverse nation full of opportunities, where people from many different cultures and backgrounds live together. However, despite its prosperity, many families face deep challenges such as poverty, loneliness, and a lack of a strong spiritual foundation. This is also reflected in states like Ohio, where poverty remains a daily reality for thousands of households. In this region, nearly one in five children lives in poverty, which means limited access to quality education, healthcare, support programs, and safe spaces for emotional and spiritual growth. In the midst of a fast-paced and demanding society, many children and youth grow up with an urgent need for hope, community, and God’s genuine love to restore their identity, purpose, and overall well-being.
Fairborn, Ohio
For years, in Fairborn, Ohio, the children’s program of Maple Avenue Church of God has been a safe place where children and youth received academic, spiritual, and emotional support. There, they found activities, Christian mentoring, and an environment full of love and values.
After its closure in 2020 due to the pandemic, many children who relied on this space still do not have a safe place to go. Today, together with A Heart for the Nations and Casa Agua Viva, we seek to reopen and strengthen this program that had such a significant impact on the community.
Current Needs
To restart the program and once again provide safety, support, and guidance to the children of Fairborn, two essential elements are needed: transportation for the children who cannot get there on their own, and a dedicated building where they can receive activities, meals, mentoring, and care.
Children’s Transportation
Many children cannot attend because their families have no way to bring them. Two vans will allow us to pick them up and ensure that everyone has safe access to the program, regardless of their resources or where they live.
Cost: $80,000
Multipurpose Building
A dedicated space is needed to carry out educational, recreational, and spiritual activities. A stable building will allow us to provide meals, tutoring, special events, and a safe environment where children can receive support and guidance.
